ASHTON ADVANTAGE PLAN TERMS OF SERVICE

REQUIREMENTS TO BEGIN AN ASHTON ADVANTAGE PLAN

In order to begin an ASHTON ADVANTAGE Plan Agreement of any kind for any major or secondary appliance, your appliance is required to undergo a ‘Magic Maintenance’ Inspection & Cleaning. 

A ‘Magic Maintenance’ is on a single piece of equipment and includes a systematic and thorough inspection, cleaning and maintenance of the equipment to determine that it is working safely, reliably, and efficiently and needs no repairs or changes to maintenance, in order to qualify for a plan.

When you choose to begin an ASHTON ADVANTAGE Plan with us, we will perform this initial inspection and cleaning for the discounted price of $59.99 for each Main Appliance (Furnace, Air Conditioner, Heat Pump, Air Handler, Ductless), and $79.99 for each Large Appliance (Fireplace, Boilers, Tankless Water Heaters). Add on secondary appliances have no enrollment fees (ERV, HRV, Humidifier, Storage Water Heater) and will be performed free of charge.  

Please note secondary appliance maintenance plans for storage water heaters, HRVs, ERVs, and humidifiers can only be purchased in conjunction with one of the three ASHTON ADVANTAGE Plan agreements.

REPAIRS RECOMMENDED DURING ENROLLMENT AND BEYOND

Any repairs recommended by an Ashton Technician during a ‘Magic Maintenance’ Enrollment Inspection & Cleaning must be completed at that time, in order to start your plan.

The cost of these repairs will be quoted to and authorized by the customer prior to any repairs being initiated. If the customer is unable or unwilling complete the repairs, a plan will not be able to be started, and the customer will be required to pay the full ‘Magic Maintenance’ price for each appliance performed as part of the enrollment. (Regular Price is $149.99 for most regular appliances and $209.99 for Tankless water heaters, Fireplaces and boilers.) Additionally, the customer would not receive a 90-day diagnostic warranty (See Below)

During ANY ‘Magic Maintenance’ or ‘Diagnostic Service Call’, whether enrolled in a plan or not, the customer will be responsible for the full cost of any repairs or maintenance deemed necessary by the technician. If you have a plan that covers parts or includes a parts discount, you will be responsible for the cost of any repairs beyond your discount or exceeding your annual cap, if your plan has a cap.

90 DAY DIAGNOSTIC WARRANTY

If no repairs or maintenance are recommended by your technician, or if repairs or maintenance from your technician are recommended and completed, you will receive a 90-day diagnostic warranty.

If the piece of equipment should fail within the 90-day period following the ‘Magic Maintenance’ or ‘Diagnostic Service Call’ an Ashton Technician will return and diagnose the problem without charging the ‘Diagnostic Service Call’ fee. The cost of these repairs will be quoted to and authorized by the customer prior to any repairs being initiated.

If a customer is unwilling or unable to authorize recommended repairs or maintenance, any future equipment failures or repairs needed as a result, would not be covered by the 90-day diagnostic warranty.

DIAGNOSTIC LIMITATIONS

While we make every reasonable effort to accurately diagnose equipment issues using industry-standard practices and available information at the time of service, certain problems may not be hidden, intermittent or may evolve after inspection. 

By participating in this plan, you acknowledge that diagnostic assessments are based on observable conditions at the time, and in rare cases, further investigation may reveal a different underlying issue. Ashton Heating & Cooling cannot be held liable for initial diagnostic conclusions made in good faith based on the information available during the service visit.

QUALIFYING EQUIPMENT

Only approved residential equipment installed in a residential home qualifies for ASHTON ADVANTAGE Plan agreements. Specifically, only:

  • Natural gas and electric furnaces or hot water boilers less than 150,000 BTUH
  • Air handlers, split system heat pumps or air conditioners less than 6 tons
  • Nominal capacity, duct free split system heat pumps
  • Air conditioners less than 3.5 tons nominal capacity
  • Natural gas fireplaces less than 55,000 BTUH capacity,
  • Natural gas under fired storage type water heaters with less than 50,000
    BTUH capacity
  • Natural gas tankless water heaters and boilers less than 250,000 BTUH
  • Flow through and drum style humidifiers
  • HRV and ERV with less than 300 CFM capacity

NON-ELLIGIBLE EQUIPMENT

  • Oil fired equipment
  • Gas logs, conversion burners, window or sleeve heat pumps
  • Air conditioners, packaged terminal air conditioners, and rooftop equipment

All equipment must be installed within our normal service areas. Equipment installed in attics or crawl spaces or equipment that requires the use of a ladder to gain access is excluded from our plans unless stated specifically.

The customer must supply reasonable access as defined in the current gas code to all covered equipment.

COVERAGE PERIOD AND RENEWAL

Your ASHTON ADVANTAGE agreement is based on a minimum 12-month commitment period. Any discounted services, repairs, priority scheduling, or benefits provided during the plan period are offered in consideration of the full term of the agreement.

Cancellation prior to the end of a 12-month term cannot be done by the customer and can only be completed by Ashton Heating and Cooling, if we choose to allow it. We reserve the right not to allow it for any reason. If the plan is cancelled prior to completion of the 12-month term, we reserve the right to invoice the difference between the discounted member pricing received and the standard retail pricing for any services, repairs, or maintenance completed during the active period of the plan.

Ashton Heating & Cooling INC. will send you a notification of your plan renewal email which will include a link to opt out if you do not wish to renew. If you do not opt out, we will renew your agreement for successive periods of one year on the anniversary of the date of your coverage.

Because Protection and Protection PLUS+ Plans include coverage for parts and labour, these plan types require you to complete annual ‘Magic Maintenance’ on all covered appliances or we will cancel your plan.

Ashton Heating & Cooling INC. may change the price of the agreement and other terms and conditions of agreement coverage by giving you notice of these changes at least 30 days prior to the anniversary date.

If you do not wish to renew your agreement or want to cancel due to changes in our terms and conditions, you will have the right to cancel your ASHTON ADVANTAGE plan agreement by providing us written notice within 14 days of renewal or the receipt of documentation outlining planed changes.

Your notice must be written (Mail/Email/Text) and include your name, address, telephone number, and clear direction to cancel your plan agreement. You can contact us at info@ashtonheating.ca.

If you miss payments due to card changes or lack of funds, and the system pauses your subscription, or if we cancel your agreement due to lack of payment longer than one month, you will be responsible for any back payments prior to the cancellation and we reserve the right to invoice the difference between the discounted member pricing received and the standard retail pricing for any services, repairs, or maintenance completed during the active period of the plan. If you want to re-start your plan and not lose your plan benefits, you must pay the total of all missed payments to catch your account back up.

Ashton Heating & Cooling INC reserves the right not to offer an agreement to any customer. Ashton Heating & Cooling INC. reserves the right not to renew an agreement for any customer.

A customer who is moving may transfer an agreement to their new home provided it is within Ashton Heating & Cooling INC.’s normal service area, and they agree to have a free inspection for approval of the new equipment coverage within 90 days of moving.

ASHTON ADVANTAGE MAINTENANCE PLAN AGREEMENT

$9.99/Month per appliance for Furnace, Air Conditioner, Heat Pump, Air Handler, Ductless.

$14.99/Month per appliance for Boilers, Tankless Water Heaters, Fireplace

$3.99/Month per appliance for ERV, HRV, Humidifier, Storage Water Heater

Your ASHTON ADVANTAGE Maintenance Plan agreement includes FREE Annual ‘Magic Maintenance’ Inspection & Cleaning appointments for the equipment covered by your plan, for the duration of your plan.

ASHTON ADVANTAGE Maintenance Plan also includes VIP priority scheduling (We will schedule your call within 24 hours) at a reduced diagnostic service call fee of $105.00+ HST, for the appliance covered under your plan.

Please note that ASHTON ADVANTAGE Maintenance Plans do not cover the cost of after-hours or emergency service calls. Should you call after hours or on a Friday when we are unable to schedule you in during regular business hours, you will be required to pay the Emergency/ After Hours Diagnostic fee of $275.

You will receive a 20% discount off the regular rate of any required parts for repair/service.  Your plan also includes a 5% discount on all new equipment purchase s from Ashton Heating & Cooling INC.

ASHTON ADVANTAGE PROTECTION PLAN AGREEMENT

$14.99/Month per appliance for Furnace, Air Conditioner, Heat Pump, Air Handler, Ductless. (Boilers, Tankless and Fireplace are only eligible for maintenance plans)

$3.99/Month per appliance for ERV, HRV, Humidifier, Storage Water Heater

Your ASHTON ADVANTAGE Protection Plan includes FREE diagnostic fees and FREE parts and labour for repairs on any components supplied by the original equipment manufacturer for the appliance covered by your plan. Some exclusions may apply, please see the full list in the Exclusions Section following all plan information.

You’ll also enjoy VIP priority scheduling, FREE after hours or emergency service call premiums for the appliance covered in your plan, and a 5% discount on all new equipment purchases from Ashton Heating & Cooling.

ASHTON ADVANTAGE Protection Plans do not include free Annual ‘Magic Maintenance’ Inspections & Cleaning appointments. Instead, you will pay a reduced fee for these appointments- $59.99-$79.99 depending on the appliance.

ASHTON ADVANTAGE Protection Plans have an annual cap of $800.00 on the combined costs of Labour, Parts, Diagnostics, Service and Repairs.

ASHTON ADVANTAGE Protection PLUS+ Plans have no annual cap of on qualifying Labour, Parts, Diagnostics, Service and Repairs.

EXCLUSIONS:

PROTECTION AND PROTECTION PLUS+ PLAN COMPONENTS INCLUDED ARE:

Capacitors, contactors, control boards, relays, motors, fans, service valves, gas burners, orifices, valves, ignition systems, flame proving systems, fan/limit controls, transformers, air proving switches.

PROTECTION and PROTECTION PLUS+ PLAN EXCLUSIONS ARE:

Unless covered under the original appliance warranty, the cost of the replacement of the following parts are excluded from coverage under Ashton Advantage Protection and Protection PLUS+ plans, however the agreement does cover labour up to the plan’s maximum If your plan includes a maximum.

  • The thermostat serving a covered piece of equipment.
  • Compressors
  • Refrigerant leaks or Refrigerant
  • Furnace Venting
  • Wires, Switches, Breakers
  • Condensate pumps
  • Ultraviolet Bulbs
  • ECM Motors older than five years
  • Ductwork, Diffusers, Grills
  • Heat Exchangers
  • Filters are not covered, as well as service issues due to plugged filters. Lack of airflow is not covered.


This plan is designed to protect the customer from the unexpected cost associated with breakdowns caused by normal wear and tear on the covered equipment.

As such, external power interruptions, plugged vents, damage/failures caused by external forces, flood, fire, vandalism, willful acts, and repairs by anyone other than Ashton Heating and Cooling are not covered.

Cabinets, casings, covers, paint, venting, external tubing, batteries, low and high voltage wiring are not covered.

Flushing of the heat exchanger and additional cleaning that is required due to insufficient maintenance prior to joining the agreement are excluded from coverage and will be charged to you at our standard labour rate.

We are not responsible for insufficient air distribution due to existing ductwork design or clogged ductwork. Repairs to your equipment made necessary as a result of faulty ancillary equipment are excluded from coverage.

LIMITS OF LIABILITY

Ashton Heating & Cooling INC. accepts no liability for consequential damage. While Ashton Heating and Cooling Component repair/replacement is at the sole discretion of Ashton Heating & Cooling INC. If we are unable to repair your equipment for any reason (such as, but not limited to, lack of availability of parts) then our sole obligation is to terminate the agreement.
